"The Albert Parker Post was named for Sgt. Albert H. Parker, Co. B, 5th Battalion, the son of Mr. and Mrs. R.T. Parker of Bement, who was killed in action in France on November 5, 1918. The Charter of the Post was issued on April 28, 1920... The Post has always actively supported civic events and improvements in the community. V.F.W. Post 5192 came into existence in 1991. The Post is named in honor of Newton Ray Plummer. The Squadron (Albert Parker Sons of the American Legion Squadron 620) was established on September 8, 1993." The Bement Story 1885-2005
