Michelle Evans, Nurse Practitioner at the Bement Community Medical Center spoke to the BACC at the regular February meeting.  This is what we learned about her background and the new clinic.

Michelle grew up in Bement and lived on John and Nadine Funk’s farm.  Her family moved to Monticello when she was in grade school.  Her degrees include a BA in Nursing from Millikin University, an MA in Nursing from the University of Illinois, and she is also a Certified Nurse Practitioner.  Bement is the location of one of four satellite offices for Dr. Imburgia from Effingham.  The current trailer is a temporary facility with hopes that if the clinic is successful, they will be able to stay and purchase a permanent building.  Michelle can treat people from 0-100 years of age and she can do physicals, treat chronic diseases, give shots, do sports physicals, DOTs, removals, and pretty much all a family medical center can do.  They also take most insurance plans including Personal Care, Blue Cross Blue Shield, some ETNA, and Medicare and soon they will be able to take Medicaid.

Current hours are 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and 7 a.m. – noon on Wednesday and Friday.  Eventually they will have a pharmacy service for common medications out of the clinic.

The phone number to the Bement Community Medical Center is 678-2900.
