Friends of the Library
The Bement Library has a friends of the library group. Anyone is invited to
join. Yearly membership dues are $5. Everyone is welcome.
The Friends of the Library sponsors a booksale the second weekend of June each year.
The library accepts books for the sale beginning in April.

History of Bement Public Library
Literary societies and library associations were active in Bement's early years. In 1866, an association was formed, with $134 being available for the purchase of books.The Bement Literary and Library Association was incorporated in 1877. The Bement Woman's Club members served as librarians and circulated books. A tax proposal for a free township library carried in1936. In 1989 the library moved into a new 3800 square foot library. In 1995 the library became a district library which serves not only Bement Township but also the Ivesdale portion of our school district.

Essential Information
Books can be borrowed for a two week period. Some new books are loaned only for one week.Videos may be borrowed for two days . Only two videos per family can be borrowed at a time. Audio books & magazines may be borrowed for a two week period.

Fines
Books-5 cents a day on regular books,magazines, & audio books for each day they are overdue.
Books on a list-25cents a day for each day they are overdue
Books borrowed from another library through interlibrary loan are 50 cents a day
Videos are $1 per day per video including days the lbrary is closed.
The library offers the use of a copier for 15 cents a copy.
A fax machine is available for public use. Pages are sent at a cost of $2 for the first page & $1 for each additional. Overseas is $5 a sheet. Faxes are received for individuals for a cost of $1 a page.

Board of Trustees
The library board meets once a month on the third thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the library.
